Anabelle Torres

Anabelle Torres is a Cuban-American born and raised in Miami, Florida. She is an undergraduate student in her fourth year at Florida International University (FIU) earning her B.A. in Sociology and Digital Media & Communications. Her research interests are grounded in the intersections between digital theory and social theories such as critical race theory, Latinx theory, feminist theory, and queer theory. 

Anabelle has worked as a research assistant for FIU’s Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies (GSS) and with Moses Shumow, studying gentrification in Little Haiti and Liberty City. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the Sociology Honors Society chapter at FIU, as well as secretary of the GSS club at FIU. She is general manager of FIU’s student-run radio station, “The Roar” and hosted the local programming for over three years. She is a Sagittarius and has a chocolate labrador named Clover.
