Darielis Cruz

Nelson Mandala once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. Darielis Cruz believes that the knowledge gained from lived experiences is much more valuable than picking up a book. Studying abroad is a privilege not afforded to many, and this particular program is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about the people, culture and customs of South Africa. She is a sophomore attending Mercy College, the youngest of her three siblings and the first to attend college. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, and going on road trips. 

Darielis understands that many would deem taking everything you own and moving to a new country insane, but she took this brave step fifteen years ago, when she first migrated to America. Darielis takes pleasure in stepping out of her comfort zone and is honored and excited to study abroad in South Africa next summer.
