Mautra Jones

Mautra Staley Jones is a force in higher education. As the 11th President of Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), she made history as the first woman and first person of color to lead the institution and the first African American woman to serve as president of a non-HBCU institution in Oklahoma. Under her leadership, OCCC has earned national recognition for academic excellence, workforce development, and student success.
OCCC is recognized as one of America’s Top Online Colleges by Newsweek, with its psychology program ranked in the nation’s top 10 by Forbes Advisor. Its Digital Cinema Program is among the top 30 in the U.S. and Canada, its cybersecurity program holds national distinction, and its nursing program exceeds state and national NCLEX pass rates.
Beyond academia, Jones is a respected civic and corporate leader. She serves on numerous boards, including BancFirst, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. She is also an active Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Salt and Light Leadership (SALLT), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. member.
Jones’s achievements have garnered numerous accolades, including recognition by Forbes as a Top Black Higher Education CEO, Oklahoma Citizen of the Year, and Oklahoman of the Year by Oklahoma Magazine. The Journal Record named her Oklahoma's Most Admired CEO for public companies, and she was recognized among the 100 Women to Know Across North America.
She holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma, the University of Phoenix, and Vanderbilt University.
She and her husband, U.S. District Judge Bernard M. Jones II, are parents of three outstanding children.
