Melissa Freeman
Melissa L. Freeman is the Director of the Graduate Support Center at Adams State University. Prior, she served as the founding director of the master’s program in Higher Education Administration & Leadership (HEAL) at Adams State University. The program focuses on preparing the next generation of leaders at the nation’s Hispanic Serving Institutions and was funded by a FIPSE grant from the US Department of Education. Most recently the program was selected as finalist for the Examples of Excelencia 2013 for its role in the successful preparation of Latino/a leaders in higher education broadly and HSIs specifically. Freeman teaches courses about the history of higher education, the American college student, and higher education public policy. Freeman earned her Ph.D. from Ohio University’s Higher Education Administration program in 2007, focusing on educational policy.
