Rick Gallot

Rick Gallot is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Louisiana System. Before that, he served over seven years as the 10th president of Grambling State University. Gallot had a distinguished political career, serving one term in the Louisiana State Senate, three terms in the Louisiana House of Representatives, and one term on the Grambling City Council.
Gallot earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Grambling State University and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University School of Law. He also participated in the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He has completed his coursework and is writing his dissertation, with an expected graduation date of May 2025.
Gallot has been inducted into the Grambling State University Alumni Hall of Fame and the Southern Law School Hall of Fame. He received the 2017 HBCU Grow “Best Leadership Award” during his first year as president of Grambling State University. Additionally, he is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and a member of the Committee of 100 for Economic Development, an influential, independent business roundtable consisting of Louisiana’s senior corporate executives and university leaders. He was recently elected to the National Association of System Heads board of directors, composed of the chief executives of college and university systems of public higher education in the United States.
Gallot has been a licensed attorney for 35 years and serves on the boards of directors for Cleco Corporation, an electric utility company headquartered in Pineville, LA, and Origin Bank in Ruston. President Gallot and his wife Christy have four sons.
