Sydney Freeman

Freeman is an Educational Theorist, Social Scientist & Educational Administrator with experience in various aspects of Academic and Student Affairs. He completed his Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in Music, Business, and Communications at Oakwood University. Freeman then went on to attend Auburn University in Alabama where he earned both a masters and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration by the age of 26. He has also completed a graduate Certificate in College and University Teaching at Auburn University and recently earned the designation of Certified Faculty Developer (CFD) through the Learning Education Resource Network (LERN). Freeman is currently the youngest academic administrator at Tuskegee University and serves as the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health. He previously served as the Assistant Editor for the Journal of School Leadership and held an adjunct faculty appointment at Oakwood University. Currently he holds an affiliate faculty appointment within the Adult and Higher Education program at Auburn University. Freeman also serves as the chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on Higher Education Leadership Program Guidelines, which is under the Council for the Advancement of Higher Education Programs and Affiliated with the Association for the Study of Higher Education. Additionally, he is the lead editor along with Linda Serra Hagedorn, Lester F. Goodchild, and Dianne A. Wright on a recently published book project titled, “Advancing Higher Education as a Field of Study” with Stylus Publishing. Freeman is a board member of the American Association of University Administrators.
