Taryn Ozuna

Taryn G. Ozuna is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington). Ozuna’s research interests focus on the educational experiences of Latino students as they access, transition, and enroll in Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), particularly Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). Her dissertation was a qualitative investigation of the first-year experiences and perceptions of sense of belonging among Mexican American students enrolled in a Historically Black University in Texas. Prior to joining the faculty at UT Arlington, Ozuna was a postdoctoral fellow at UT Arlington. She earned her doctorate in higher education administration, with a concentration in Mexican American Studies, from the University of Texas at Austin (2012). She received her Masters degree in Student Affairs Administration (2005) and Bachelors degree in General Family and Consumer Sciences (2003) from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
