Valerie Lundy-Wagner

Valerie Lundy-Wagner is a Senior Research Associate at the Community College Research Center (CCRC) and Center for Analysis of Postsecondary Education and Employment (CAPSEE) at Teachers College, Columbia University. With CCRC she works on a project related to systemic and structural inequality, focusing on ways to improve pathways into and through higher education for vulnerable, low-income populations.  Before joining CCRC/CAPSEE, Lundy-Wager was an Assistant Professor & Faculty Fellow appointment at New York University, and a Postdoctoral Scholar at Purdue University in Engineering Education. Her publications include co-authorship on a book about historically Black colleges and universities, as well as articles on demography and STEM in the Journal of Higher Education and Research in Higher Education, the Journal of Negro Education and the Proceedings for the American Society for Engineering Education Annual Meeting, in addition to conceptual pieces on demography and campus climates in Teachers College Record and the Journal for Diversity in Higher Education. Lundy-Wagner holds a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania, master’s degree in education from Stanford University, and BS in civil and environmental engineering from UCLA. Prior to entering the field of higher education, Lundy-Wagner worked as a civil and environmental engineer managing groundwater and soil remediation projects for a global consulting firm.
